About LawPucho

India's free, open legal question-and-answer community

What we are

LawPucho is a free legal Q&A platform where anyone in India can ask a legal question and receive clear, structured legal information. We help you understand the legal landscape around everyday issues — family, property, criminal, corporate, civil, cyber, constitutional and labour law — before you decide what to do next.

Our answers are generated with AI assistance based on Indian statutes and judicial practice, then presented in plain language with the legal provisions referenced. We believe legal information should be accessible, affordable and understandable.

Who it is for

LawPucho is written for people who need to understand a legal problem in ordinary language before they spend money on professional help. That includes individuals dealing with a family dispute, a landlord or tenant issue, a cheque that bounced, a consumer complaint, an FIR, a property partition, or a cyber fraud; small business owners checking a contract or a compliance obligation; and non-resident Indians who need to understand how Indian law applies to them from abroad.

It is also used by law students and junior advocates as a starting point for research, which is why every answer lists the sections and provisions it relies on rather than only summarising the outcome.

How answers are produced

Every answer follows the same pipeline, so you know what you are reading and how far you can rely on it:

  • The question is read as asked. Where the facts are incomplete, the answer states the assumption it is proceeding on instead of silently guessing.
  • Drafting is AI-assisted and grounded in current Indian legislation and well-established judicial principles — the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam where they have replaced the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act, along with sector statutes such as the RERA, the Consumer Protection Act, the PWDVA and the NI Act.
  • Key legal sections and provisions cited in an answer are listed alongside it, so you can check the primary source yourself.
  • Answers are written in plain language and structured as what the law says, what it means for your situation, and what the practical next step is.
  • Every answer carries a clear disclaimer: it is general information, not legal advice.
  • Where a matter needs a real professional, we point you to a licensed advocate through our paid consultation option.

What we cover

Answers are organised by practice area and by place, so you can find material that matches your situation rather than a generic overview. Practice areas include criminal law, family law, property and civil law, corporate and company law, cyber law, constitutional law, labour law, consumer protection and NRI matters spanning banking, consular documentation, inheritance and cross-border family disputes.

City and state pages group questions that were asked by people in that location. They exist to help you find locally relevant answers, and where a location has too few questions to be useful we mark the page as not indexed rather than padding it out.

Editorial standards and corrections

Legal information goes stale. Statutes are amended, sections are renumbered, and judgments change the reading of a provision. We therefore treat every page as revisable rather than finished:

  • Corrections reported by readers, advocates or the subjects of a question are reviewed and, where valid, applied to the published answer.
  • Accuracy reports are reviewed within two business days of reaching us.
  • Where an answer is materially wrong rather than merely incomplete, the page is corrected or removed from the index rather than left in place.
  • Questions that identify a real person, or that contain sensitive details such as card numbers, Aadhaar numbers or one-time passwords, are not published.

If you spot an error, tell us at our contact page and include the page address.

Why it is free

Reading answers on LawPucho costs nothing and does not require an account. The site is funded by paid consultations with licensed advocates, where a reader chooses to take a matter further, and by advertising. We do not charge for access to information, and no advocate or firm can pay to have an answer written in their favour or ranked more prominently.

Where an answer recommends consulting an advocate, that recommendation follows from the facts of the question, not from a commercial arrangement.

An honest note

LawPucho is not a law firm, and it does not provide legal advice. Every situation is different, and Indian law changes over time. Always verify current law and consult a qualified practising advocate before taking any legal action. Using LawPucho does not create an attorney-client relationship. See our full disclaimer.
