How do I create a valid waqf for my property in Kozhikode?

A waqf in Kozhikode is a permanent dedication of movable or immovable property for religious, charitable, or pious purposes recognised under Muslim law. The Kerala High Court has held that a waqf must be perpetual and the property must be transferred to God with the settlor relinquishing ownership.

Under the Kerala Rent Control Act 1963 and the Waqf Act, the waqf must be registered with the state waqf board. A mutawalli is appointed to manage the waqf property and cannot alienate it without court permission.

The dedication can be oral or written and takes effect immediately. A waqf cannot be revoked once created.
